Up in the wild, granite-strewn slopes of the Sierra de Gredos, just west of Madrid, Comando G is making some of the most captivating Garnacha we’ve ever come across. This isn’t just about wine - it’s about place, purpose, and a kind of reverence that’s hard to fake.
Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García started with a simple idea: that old-vine Garnacha, grown high in the mountains on decomposed granite and farmed with care, could be just as detailed and expressive as the world’s great Pinots or Nebbiolos. And they were right. The wines have a purity and precision that stops you in your tracks - light in body, but loaded with tension, lift, and soul.
They keep things pretty stripped back in the winery. Biodynamic farming, whole bunch fermentation, neutral oak - minimal inputs, maximum clarity. Wines like Rumbo al Norte, Las Umbrías and Tumba del Rey Moro have gone from insider secrets to some of the most exciting bottles in Spain.
What really sets them apart, though, is how they treat the land. Everything is done by hand. No irrigation. No shortcuts. Just serious, long-haul care for these ancient vineyards.
Comando G isn’t following a trend - they’re building something deeper. And we’re all the better for it.
"At the crossroads of classicism and unpretentious cool, Landi and García have introduced a new audience – of both drinkers and collectors – to a finer side of Spanish wines."
- Ines Salpica (Decanter Magazine)
