Description

"At the crossroads of classicism and unpretentious cool, Landi and García have introduced a new audience – of both drinkers and collectors – to a finer side of Spanish wines."
- Ines Salpica (Decanter Magazine)

High up in the slate and quartz slopes of Cebreros, the tiny El Reventón vineyard offers one of the more dramatic expressions in Comando G’s lineup. At 950 metres elevation, with vines pushing 85 years of age, it’s a site that walks a fine line between rugged and refined - Garnacha grown on the edge, both literally and stylistically.

2021 was a tough but rewarding year in the Gredos: snow, frost and rain made for a wild ride, but it ended up being one of the most exciting vintages the region has seen. The result here is a wine that captures the push-pull of this landscape - aromatic and Mediterranean on the nose, sharp and structured through the palate. Nothing is overdone. No heavy extraction, no winemaking tricks. Just fruit, place, and patience.

Only 1,759 bottles were made, aged in a single large foudre and bottled without fining or filtration. If you want a pure, mountain-grown Garnacha with a real sense of tension and nerve, this is it.

97 points
"A narrow, mineral, and elegant expression of El Reventón from slate soils in Cebreros. Herbal, peppery, with meaty and iron notes. Ethereal and precise, showing full flavor development despite 15% alcohol. Possibly the most elegant vintage to date. 1,759 bottles produced."
- Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

"Superbly knit nose with pungent white pepper, wild berries, roasted grapefruit, agave, and stones. Firm, ample palate with impressive length and a touch more roundness. Drink now or hold."
- Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

97 points - "The 2021 El Reventón is the one wine from the village of Cebreros on slate soils, and it has an herbal and peppery twist similar to the notes I found in the Las Iruelas from this very cold year. This has some more meaty notes, more iron, but no heat or Mediterranean grapes. It's a narrower, more mineral expression of El Reventón, very balanced with an unnoticeable 15% alcohol, which meant full development of aromas and flavors in the grapes that were infused into the wine. This has to be the most elegant and precise year of El Reventón to date. In this cold vintage, it's ethereal, a little wider but getting close to the style of Las Iruelas. It's a little less expressive on the nose than Iruelas, with a little more fruit. 2022 will be the last vintage for this wine, as they sold the vineyard to the Alejandro Vigil and Catena team from Mendoza, who vinified it for the first time in 2023. 1,759 bottles were filled in March 2023." - Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

96 points - "Superbly knit nose despite the pungent white pepper character here. Lots of fruit, too, with wild berries, roasted grapefruit, agave and stones. Really firm and ample on the palate with impressive length and a little more roundness, too. Drink now or hold." - Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

Tasting Comments
A Garnacha with two identities—expressing the fragrance of the Mediterranean and the freshness of continental altitude. Aromas of lavender, thyme, and curry define the nose, while the palate is lifted by vibrant acidity and freshness, capturing the mountain soul of Sierra de Gredos. A wine of tension, elegance, and dual personality.

Comando G

High in the rugged Sierra de Gredos, just west of Madrid, Comando G is redefining Spanish Garnacha. Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García craft wines of purity, finesse and place - not power - using old vines rooted in decomposed granite up to 1,200 metres above sea level.

Their philosophy is radical in its simplicity: farm biodynamically, ferment whole bunch, age in neutral oak. No tricks, no heavy hands - just clarity, tension, and minerality. Think Garnacha with the precision of Pinot or Nebbiolo.

From cult bottlings like Las Umbrías and Rumbo al Norte to the broader village wines, their work has captured global attention without selling out. These aren’t polished show ponies - they’re soulful, site-driven expressions that vibrate with energy and authenticity.

But Comando G is more than a wine label. It’s a quiet revolution in the making. Every vine is hand-tended, dry-grown and treated with reverence. They’re not just restoring a grape - they’re reviving a landscape. This is mountain wine at its most profound: electric, transparent, and rooted in place. Comando G isn’t following the zeitgeist - they’re reshaping it, bottle by bottle.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
