Vinden Wines
Angus Vinden, the dynamic young winemaker of Vinden Wines, is redefining this beloved Hunter Valley winery. Taking over from his father a few years ago, Angus has infused fresh energy into the family label, producing exciting, modern wines that are garnering attention from the country's leading wine scribes.
A second-generation farmer with 22 hectares under vine, Angus draws from his regional knowledge and mentorship under Glen Howard, the late viticultural legend of the region. He focuses on the Hunter Valley's classic Semillon and Shiraz, while also excelling with Tempranillo and even Chenin Blanc, all the while exploring these varieties with a creativity and flair rarely seen in the region.
Founded in 1990 by Guy and Sandra Vinden, Vinden Estate boasts 12 acres of diverse varietals on rich red clay soil. Angus expanded the estate with the purchase of the historic Somerset Vineyard, a vineyard with a storied past, having provided the fruit for some of the region’s most acclaimed wines over the last 50+ years. It is a very good thing for the region that this iconic site is now in Gus' hands.
Vinden Wines is a vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, making it hands down one of the Hunter Valley's most exciting up-and-coming labels.
"The atmosphere at Vinden is one of febrile excitement, strung across a bow of great possibility and high expectations."
