Description

The Eldorado Road Dreamfields Fiano is a celebration of the varietal’s serious potential in northeast Victoria, blending fruit from two vineyards to craft a wine with depth, balance, and unmistakable regional character.

The grapes come from the Bungamero Vineyard in the Alpine Valleys and the Yurilla Vineyard in the King Valley. Bungamero fruit contributes texture and a waxy, layered mouthfeel, while the Yurilla fruit brings vibrant aromatics and juicy upfront fruit. Together, these two sites create a beautifully complementary blend that showcases the best of both regions.

Winemaking is all about care and detail. The fruit was gently pressed and fermented in seasoned French oak, with half undergoing wild fermentation to build complexity and intrigue. Five months of ageing on full lees, with regular stirring, adds richness and a creamy texture while retaining a clean natural acidity.

This is Fiano that feels right at home in Victoria, crafted with care to reflect the unique character of its sites. Perfect with seafood, creamy pasta, or Mediterranean-inspired dishes, the Dreamfields Fiano is now consistently one of the top-rated Fianos in Australia.

96 points
"Pressed to stainless steel, fermented in French oak with a mix of wild and cultured yeasts, 5 months in oak on full lees. All hail North East Vic fiano, a grape that, vintage after vintage, shines. So aromatic – spring flowers, white peach, citrus, baked apple – and so concentrated across the middle palate, but also juicy and fresh. A leesy, nougat, almond meal texture builds, but it is the persistence of the finish that nails it so convincingly."

94 points - "Well this is just gorgeous. Filled with fruit, bright, energetic, a touch waxy and textural and just exuberant all around. It’s a joy to drink. Stonefruits, pears, tonic water and grapefruit, with a floral element roundabouts. Deliciousness plus. Refreshing too. Go." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Fiano is a variety we believe has great potential in Australia and particularly in Victoria’s north-east, so much so that in 2022 we planted it at our home vineyard in Eldorado. While we patiently await the fruits of our labour, we have the privilege of been able to source fruit from several established a vineyards. The first is the Bungamero Vineyard, situated in the Alpine Valleys at Whorouly South, expertly managed by brothers Tim and Mark Walpole. The second vineyard is the Yurilla Vineyard situated in the King Valley and owned and managed by Peter Burrowes.

Both vineyards produce markedly different wines and account for roughly an equal share of the final blend. The Alpine Valley fruit is super textured with a waxy mouth feel and subtle aromatics where as the King Valley fruit displays vibrant aromatics and more overt up front fruit on the palate. Together blended carefully in the right composition they complement each other beautifully displaying the best of both sites.

The grapes are gently pressed to stainless steel for a natural cold settling, then racked after 48 hours to seasoned French oak. 50% is fermented by indigenous wild yeast and 50% inoculated with CY Yeast to promote the production of complex sulphide. The wine is then aged a further five months in oak on full lees with bimonthly stirring.

The resultant wine is generous in flavour and texture yet supported by a clean natural line of acidity and vibrant aromatics. Think peach, white flowers and grapefruit. Everything is in harmony and balance, displaying a Fiano that looks ‘at home’ in spite of being on the other side of the globe to its Italian origins.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
