Eldorado Road
Eldorado Road is the passion project of Paul “Bear” Dahlenburg and Lauretta “Laurie” Schulz, a family-driven winery nestled in the granitic foothills between Beechworth and Wangaratta. With a focus on reviving the past and forging a bold future, their wines reflect both history and innovation in every bottle.
Their story began in 2010 with the rescue of a Shiraz vineyard in Glenrowan, planted in the 1890s and left neglected for decades. After years of hard work, these ancient vines now produce the Persévérance Old Vine Shiraz, a wine steeped in history and full of character.
But Bear and Laurie, and their son Ben who joined the fold as winemaker in 2016, didn’t stop there. They planted blocks of Nero d’Avola, Durif, and the rare Aucerot on their Eldorado property, drawn to the potential of the site’s granite-rich soils. Inspired by Sicilian advice, their Nero d’Avola thrives in its new home, while their cooler-climate Durif challenges expectations with surprising elegance and depth.
They’ve also sourced pristine Chardonnay from Beechworth’s high-altitude vineyards, creating wines with power and finesse that nod to Chablis while staying distinctly Australian.
With decades of experience behind them, Bear and Laurie have poured their heart into Eldorado Road. Their wines are a celebration of perseverance, craftsmanship, and the stories that make wine so special. Eldorado Road is quietly making waves—don’t let it pass you by.
