Description

Paul Vandenbergh, the man behind Munda Wines, teamed up with Chalk Hill Wines to produce this serious and seductive Syrah from Kaurna Country (McLaren Vale).

"This is such a lovely syrah, its Blewitt Springs origin shouting from the rooftops. Length and balance just to start."
- 96pts, James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

"A premium feel with a sense of understatement."
- 92pts, Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Gloriously perfumed and aromatic, it's filled with vibrant flavours of purple fruit and spice, with firm and structured tannins. The TLC this wine went through to get to bottle is evident from the first sip, as is the quality.

Put it down to age for a while or enjoy it now over a meal, the choice is yours. Delicious.

From grapes grown on Kaurna Country, this Syrah is handpicked, partially destemmed and fermented in wild yeast for 10 days to extract the optimal flavour.
Medium to full bodied, blueberry, plum and dark cherry fruits burst onto the palate. Vibrant fruit combines with notes of red flowers, cacao and layers of cooking spice. The hallmark sandy/biscuity tannins of Blewitt Spring linger on the palate.
Our wines and wine style aims to reflect the attributes of their Aboriginal countries. We explore varieties that we believe are ideally suited to that country, and that have long term sustainability to work in harmony with munda.

96 points - "As flawless as its siblings. Deep crimson- purple hue, with black cherries and a fine- spun net of tannins. This is such a lovely syrah, its Blewitt Springs origin shouting from the rooftops. Length and balance just to start." - James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

92 Points - "Deep red with a good purple tint at the rim; the bouquet is shy and slightly muted at first, with notes of dried forest-floor litter and spices, a trace of black pepper, while the palate is full-bodied and rich, firm in tannin and long, firm and crisply clean finishing. Serious shiraz with good potential for aging." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

92 Points - "Mellow, supple and medium weight red, dark fruited, plummy, peppery and sweet spicy. Strong and rich perfume, gentler flavours with a sense of purity and gentle winemaking application. The tannins are lithe, feathery and lend shape, the finish a little scratchy with lemony acidity but overall refreshing and bright. A premium feel with a sense of understatement. Appealing." - Mike Bennie (The Real Review)

Munda Wines

Paul 'Pauly' Vandenbergh is the First Nations Wirangu man behind new Australian wine label, Munda.

Vandenbergh was working in an Indigenous leadership position for the AFL before embarking on his connected-to-country wine project. Munda (a Wirangu and Kokatha people’s word for "land") is aiming to explore an ancient connection to the land for his people through the vehicle of wine, while simultaneously opening doors for the younger generation of the indigenous community to enter into the wine industry via his not for profit Tjindu Foundation.

Vandenbergh partners with established producers to craft premium wines that tell a beautiful story of his country. It's an entirely original Australian reframing of the European concept of 'terroir', that honours the traditional names of each of the regions which he sources fruit from.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
