Munda Wines
Paul 'Pauly' Vandenbergh is the First Nations Wirangu man behind new Australian wine label, Munda.
Vandenbergh was working in an Indigenous leadership position for the AFL before embarking on his connected-to-country wine project. Munda (a Wirangu and Kokatha people’s word for "land") is aiming to explore an ancient connection to the land for his people through the vehicle of wine, while simultaneously opening doors for the younger generation of the indigenous community to enter into the wine industry via his not for profit Tjindu Foundation.
Vandenbergh partners with established producers to craft premium wines that tell a beautiful story of his country. It's an entirely original Australian reframing of the European concept of 'terroir', that honours the traditional names of each of the regions which he sources fruit from.
