This wine can go toe-to-toe with any sparkling wine from anywhere on planet earth.

98 points & Top 100 Wines of 2024
"The much awaited 2008 E.J. Carr Late Disgorged... Pristine flavours of stone fruits, soft spice, clotted cream and biscuity/toasty tones abound, finishing bright and intensely focused with real intent of flavour and line. A benchmark Australian sparkling wine."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Potent and rich, complex and layered... The power builds and builds. Bubbles tight, racy, a restraint from saline/minerally acidity and yet the mature wine characters stand up too. So serious, so good, a wildly good sparkling wine."
- Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

A mature and complex style expressing all the attributes of the noble sparkling grape varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot noir grown in pristine cold climate vineyards throughout Tasmania and meticulous winemaking. This wine was aged on lees in tirage for 14 years developing an intensity of secondary characters recognised in the world's finest cuvees.

98 points & Top 100 Wines of 2024 - "The much awaited 2008 E.J. Carr Late Disgorged is a blend of 64.4/35.6% chardonnay/pinot noir sourced from premium vineyards across Tasmania. Aged on lees in tirage for 13 years with a 2.2 g/L dosage. Disgorged December 2022. Mid-straw in the glass with an ultra-fine bead and aromas of green apple, juicy nectarine and white peach with hints of crushed oyster shell, white flowers, grapefruit pith, sea spray, shiitake broth and straight out of the oven brioche. Coils then expands on the palate, all tension and release as the minerally acidity propels the wine across the tongue. Pristine flavours of stone fruits, soft spice, clotted cream and biscuity/toasty tones abound, finishing bright and intensely focused with real intent of flavour and line. A benchmark Australian sparkling wine." -
Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

97 points - "Potent and rich, complex and layered. Scents of preserved lemon, ginger, chicken stock, sea spray, sourdough bread, toast and cinnamon. Flavours similar, so intense and yet compact, a distinct elegance and seamless flow, silkiness to texture too, a vinous expression but wildly complex and savoury to boot. The power builds and builds. Bubbles tight, racy, a restraint from saline/minerally acidity and yet the mature wine characters stand up too. So serious, so good, a wildly good sparkling wine." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

97 points - "Light to mid yellow, amazingly light for its 15 years of age, and the bouquet is curious, quite un-Champagne-like, with richer fruit aromas, some nuttiness and dried wildflower nuances, a little canned corn, plus a slight high-note of reduction that breathed off fairly quickly. Straw/dried-herbs too. The wine is ample in the mouth, bright and crisp and very dry, with a winning combination of rich ripe fruit flavour with structural tightness and refreshing dryness. Supurbly refined texture. Very long carry with appetising grip and savoury dryness, and an overall feel of tremendous finesse." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

95 points - "A complex nose of yeast extract, iodine, ginger candy, praline and roasted hazelnuts wafting across a Tokyo subway entrance. Full and palate-staining with so much extract as to almost bury the slither of saline freshness carrying the length. Good length, mind you, that one has to feel out amidst the melee. Very good fizz." - Ned Goodwin MW (James Suckling)

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
