Producers To Watch Pt.3 - Vinden Estate
To kick into the year in proper style we thought we'd give you a shortlist of hot producers for you to keep an eye on over the coming year.

Each one of these bourgeoning brands that will be featured in the blog this week are building quite a reputation. Their wines won't be hidden gems for long. Get out your Little Black Book and take note.

Today, we look at a Hunter Valley rising star Angus Vinden at Vinden Estate:

VINDEN ESTATE

Angus Vinden has transformed his small family winery into some of the hottest property in the Hunter Valley. Having taken the reins from his father just a few years ago, Gus is reimagining his family's wine label with a string of exciting, modern wines coming out of his cellar. With strong mentoring from regional icons like Andrew 'Thommo' Thomas, Gus is carving out his own niche in the Hunter with a range showing a healthy mix of tradition and innovation.

His Single Barrel Shiraz project produced three of the best Hunter wines we tasted last year. His Semillons are tight and laser-focused. His excellent work with the fruit from the famed Somerset Vineyard is up there with the best of the region now.

He's got the classics nailed.

Now there's some more adventurous stuff waiting in the wings.

There's some home-grown Gamay that's waiting to make an appearance. Angus' foray into skin contact white wines continues to yield great results. Vinden Estate had a huge 2019. Expect 2020 to go to another level.
