2024 Rieslingfreak No. 4 Eden Valley Riesling
Since joining the Rieslingfreak winemaking team in recent years, Belinda Hughes has helped take this brand to remarkable new heights.
She is largely responsible for managing the brand's vast array of Riesling winemaking these days, and her extensive experience and love for Riesling makes her the perfect 'Freakette'!
This is Belinda and John's Eden Valley Riesling. The fruit is sourced from three vineyards between Eden Valley and Flaxman’s Valley. It's made in a dry style, looking to capture the sublime characters of these brilliant vineyards. The quality is clear, the expression is pure.
This is Eden Valley Riesling in top form. A deadset bargain for any Riesling fan.

"Passion flower, Feijoa and frangipani blooms. Stoney and mineral with a cucumber melon freshness. High toned and electric acidity, this wine has power almost beyond measure. Twinged in all the right places for long term cellaring. The palate has a lacey skin texture, coupled with blue stones and running river water. It’s graceful and yet demands your attention with a casual firm grip. A wine for white meats like poached chicken salads and slices of pork medallion."
- Shanteh Wale (Wine Pilot)
2023 Silkman Gruner Veltliner
This rare Hunter Valley Grüner from award-winning winemaker Liz Silkman is an absolute steal.
It's textural and fresh and a great alternative variety in a sea of Semillon and Chardonnay in the Hunter Valley.
On the palate, it’s fresh and energetic with super-dry notes of lemon, lime, and green apple. Tight acidity and a mineral undertone lead to a long, saline finish, showcasing the Silkmans' expert touch.
Since their debut in 2013, the Silkmans have focused on producing high-quality, small-batch wines, and this Grüner Veltliner is no exception. Perfect with Pad Thai, or on its own.

"This is fabulous. Racy, flavoursome, varietal too. Chalky acidity and the tiniest touch of spice. The palate is compelling, long with perfect harmony; it has weight without overt fruitiness, which is always magic. Lovely citrus line. High class."
- Toni Paterson MW (Halliday Wine Companion)
2023 Giant Steps Yarra Valley Chardonnay
The Giant Steps Yarra Valley Chardonnay is a blend of five of the key Giant Steps owned/managed vineyards, Sexton, Gruyere Farm, Tarraford, Applejack, Wombat Creek Vineyards, designed for earlier approachability without comprising quality. In essence, it's a snapshot of the Yarra Valley vintage.
Head Winemaker Mel Chester crafts this in a similar style to her predecessor Steve Flamsteed, with all fruit hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed. The juice ferments naturally in 500L French oak puncheons (15% new) using indigenous yeast, a small portion undergoes malolactic fermentation, but freshness and purity are the main focus of this cuvee every year.
The 2023 vintage was marked by a cool, slow ripening season, resulting in concentrated flavours and bright acidity. It's a tightly wound release that drinks beautifully now but should be one of the better vintages of this wine to cellar in some years.
It's sleek and elegant with the excellent length and finesse that has become synonymous with the Yarra and this variety. It's the perfect introduction to Giant Steps, to the Yarra Valley and to cool-climate Chardonnay. A no-brainer and one of our all-time most popular Chardonnays at Different Drop.

"Intoxicating acidity and a kefir creaminess on the finish. A spray of saline and oak appears in its round shapes rather than toasty notes. Alive with energy and creeping unsuspecting power."

"Packs a punch on the saline, gently textured, gently chewy palate. Great stuff and the perfect entrée to the year's superb lineup of single-vineyard chardonnays."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)
2021 Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown Pret A Rouge
Tessa Brown and Jeremy Schmolzer's Pret-a-Rouge is a blend of Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Sangiovese sourced from Beechworth and the Alpine Valleys.
Don't think too hard on the mechanics of the blend, this is made for ease of drinking and somehow these strange bed-fellows just work. It's built to be readily approachable and versatile, and it truly nails the brief.
If you are looking to get familiar with these two rising stars of Victorian wine, the Pret-a-Rouge is the best place to start.
2022 Unico Zelo Truffle Hound Nebbiolo Barbera
This is Brendan and Laura Carter's tribute to the Northern Italian reds they love, but in the drink-instantly style that Unico Zelo is famous for.
It's a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sangiovese and Merlot. As you might expect, it's a wine built for sheer, joyous drinkability, with a savoury backbone making it great alongside a myriad of foods.
If you're after a moreish light-to-medium red with a bit of x-factor, then this is just a no-brainer.
2022 Little Frances Beechworth Shiraz
Erin Pooley is a very considered, younger-generation winemaker making great waves in Australia.
Her 2022 Beechworth Shiraz is sourced from the fertile soils of Warner Vineyard, picked and fermented to highlight the blue fruit and cold stone elements of cool-climate Shiraz, and aged primarily in French barrique.
This Shiraz offers medium weight with darker fruit spectrum scents and flavors, featuring plum, choc-liquorice, cassis, and lavender, with a smooth, supple palate and a long finish.
In a region full of intense and powerful Shiraz, this is gorgeously elegant and balanced, like all of Erin's wines, and is simply a delight to drink.

Ordering
We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
- The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
- We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
- We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
- It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
- It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.
We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.
At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!
No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.
To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
