2023 Vinden Headcase Semillon
Crafted by the talented Angus Vinden, the 2023 Vinden Headcase Semillon stands out in the Vinden range for its exceptional balance of tradition, innovation and deliciousness.
This Semillon comes from the historic Somerset Vineyard in the Hunter Valley, with vines planted by the Howard family in the 1960s, and Angus Vinden bringing new life to this vineyard through organic and regenerative farming practices.
The fruit was hand-picked in early February and fermented on fine solids in stainless steel, a concrete pyramid, and neutral oak, with extended lees contact for added complexity.
The result is a Semillon with complex aromatics of bright citrus and leesy, spicy notes. The palate offers lemon, lime, and wet stone characters, with a crackling acidity. It's textured and weighty yet remains fresh and vibrant profile.
Perfect for enjoying now or for aging, this wine is a must-try for those seeking a fresh take on a Hunter Valley classic.
2023 Vinden Somerset Vineyard Skin Contact Gewurztraminer
Gewurztraminer is renowned for its aromatics, so using some skin contact is a great way to intensify them. This one from Gus Vinden does just that.
Two parcels of grapes were treated differently in the winery, with varying degrees of skin contact and fermentation in different vessels, including clay amphorae, French oak and stainless steel.
As you can imagine, the phenolics and aromas are pretty intense. Blossom, citrus, nuts, a bit of funkiness, but lots of fun, with a full mouthfeel and bright flavours. Truly an interesting take on Gewurz, but of course we'd expect that from Vinden.
2023 Vinden Headcase Rose
Here's an excellent rose from young Angus Vinden in the Hunter Valley, known for his innovative approach to Hunter Valley classics.
Crafted from a blend of Tempranillo, Semillon, Shiraz, and Gewurztraminer, this rose is a result of ten different ferments. Named after the Brian Eno song "Spinning Away," it’s fermented in stainless steel, neutral oak, and concrete tanks. The wine sees some malolactic fermentation to build weight and complexity, resulting in a dry, textural Rosé with a bit of an x-factor from Chardonnay lees.
On the nose, it offers complex aromatics with bright citrus and spicy notes. The palate is vibrant with juicy red fruits, a touch of spice, and racy acidity. The fresh, dry style makes it perfect for modern Rosé lovers.
This Rosé is ideal for immediate enjoyment but also has the structure to age gracefully. Enjoy on its own or paired with light dishes.
2023 Vinden Headcase Shiraz Nouveau
The 2023 Vinden Headcase Shiraz Nouveau offers a fresh take on Hunter Valley Shiraz, crafted by the innovative Angus Vinden.
This nouveau style Shiraz is light and vibrant, a departure from the traditional, more robust Hunter Valley Shiraz. It’s made from grapes sourced from the Vinden vineyard, planted in 1995, and the Stoney Broke Vineyard. Wild fermented with 10% whole bunches and 90% whole berries, this wine was matured in concrete tanks and neutral French oak barrels.
The result is a crisp, perfumed Shiraz with bright red fruit flavors and a touch of spice. Its lively acidity and light body make it perfect for enjoying slightly chilled, especially on a warm day.
A cheerful, easy-drinking red that brings a modern twist to a classic variety!

Ordering
We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
- The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
- We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
- We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
- It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
- It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.
We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.
At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!
No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.
To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
