2024 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir
Barney Flanders loves Pinot Noir, and every release of the value-packed Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir seems to out do the previous one. It has been one of the most popular wines in Different Drop history.
Winemaker Barney Flanders, known for his dedication to Pinot, blends fruit from several of his top vineyards, with Merricks North’s 30-year-old Dijon clones adding plushness and floral lift to the structured MV6 clones from Balnarring, Red Hill, and Merricks Grove.
Crafted with a gentle touch, this wine goes through wild fermentation with minimal whole bunches, 21 days on skins, and careful ageing in concrete, large foudre, and old oak barrels. It’s bottled unfined and unfiltered, keeping every bit of its savoury complexity and purity intact. The result is a beautifully balanced Pinot, layered with red berries, spice, and an earthy edge, all tied together by a refreshing mineral streak.
Simply put this wine represents the essence of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir. Value for money wise, this is an Australian Pinot Noir star.

"Spicy, perfumed, complex. It has plenty of structure, juicy cherry flavour, bright but balanced acidity, and excellent length. A short note for an impressive wine. What else do you need to know? Oh, yes, it drinks a charm."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
2021 Mac Forbes EB77 Big Willy Nebbiolo
When Mac Forbes’ resident Brit Willy P accidentally blew the top off a puncheon, he inadvertently created the perfect open top fermenter for making Nebbiolo and EB77 was born.
Fruit from Dixons Creek was fermented for 28 days in the newly crafted (!) open top fermenter and aged for 7 months in a combination of small and large old oak.
The nose is classic rose petals and cherry, and the palate follows suit adding crunchy red apple acidity and lacy dry tannin. It’s pure, fresh, and light as a feather. Delightful.
2023 Van Higgins Free Ball Grenache Cinsault
"Here we go! This is everything I love about modern McLaren Vale - pure red fruits, perfume and freshness, lovely fine tannin. A seriously smashable blend from two of our great winemaker mates in Brash and MJC. Proud to offer this little gem exclusively to our customers. Get some!"
- Tom Hollings (Different Drop Co-Founder / Wine Buyer)
We are thrilled to be the only retailer in the country to offer you access to this exciting collaboration between two of McLaren Vale's finest producers.
The Van Higgins "Free Ball" Grenache Cinsault is a 50/50 blend from the creative minds of good mates Michael J. Corbett (Vanguardist) and Brad Hickey (Brash Higgins). It was conceived over many late nights sharing bottles of 'baller' (hence Free Ball) reds from some of the Rhone Valley's finest, the likes of Gramenon, Rayas, and L’Anglore, a medium-weight red blend that captures the best of McLaren Vale is where they settled.
It's a deliciously harmonious blend of Grenache and Cinsault, each variety bringing its unique flair to the table. The Grenache comes from the gnarled 'goblet' bush vines on Vanguardist's 'Silver Sands' Rende Vineyard in Blewitt Springs. The Cinsault comes from the Lennon Vineyard in McLaren Vale, just outside the front door to Brash Higgins HQ. Half the fruit was destemmed and the other half kept as whole bunches, then ageing in a combo of 600L ceramic eggs and demi-muid barrels. This kept the wine fresh and bright, focused on the excellent fruit quality on display, without the hindrance of heavy-handed oak.
We love the freshness and flow of this wine. It's all red and blue fruit, some frisky spice, floral accents and beautifully shaped tannin that lingers long on the palate.
There were only 123 dozen made and it is only available from the two producers' websites and here at Different Drop.

"A bold pop of ripe cherry, dried roses, a bit sappy, dried herbs, raspberry too. It’s medium-bodied, a lively and vibrant wine, cherry soda and some turned earth, rosehip tea, fennel crunch, bright cranberry acidity, there’s some clay-like things, and dusty tannin grip, with a juicy/savoury finish of excellent length. It’s fun, and it drinks a treat. Spicy and interesting."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
2022 Nick Spencer P.A.R. Hilltops Malbec
P.A.R. is a new label from Nick Spencer, started with the intention of focusing entirely on emerging/alternative varieties in Australia, seeing fermentation and maturation only in sandstone amphoras.
The Malbec for this wine is sourced from a vineyard 600m above sea level with decomposed granite soils located around Young in the Hilltops region. The fruit gets picked and sent to amphora for fermentation and further ageing for 18 months.
It comes out bountiful in aromatics and flavour, with it's purple fruited heart to the fore thanks to the lack of oak.

"You can tell it’s Malbec, but also, gee, it’s a lot like a good Teroldego. I really like this."

"This is light and juicy, but, wow, does it finish the job beautifully through the finish! There's no heaviness to this wine – it's essentially built on acidity – but for character and complexity, it really has it going on, and at least, if not more importantly, it's really up there for drinkability too. As they say, delicioso!"

2020 Stonehaven Limited Release Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
Here’s a Coonawarra Cabernet that delivers premium quality without the premium price tag. The Stonehaven Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon shows why Coonawarra is legendary for producing some of Australia’s best Cabernets. This one is all about richness, structure, and value—seriously, at $25, you’re getting a top-tier wine for a fraction of what you’d expect.
It's true to regional style, showing blackberry and dark plum, perfectly balanced by hints of French oak spice, giving it that signature Coonawarra elegance. The full-bodied palate is rich and smooth, with just the right amount of tannin to carry it through to a long, satisfying finish.
Whether you’re a fan of classic Aussie Cab or looking to explore the region, this is the kind of wine that impresses at a dinner party but is easy enough to enjoy on a quiet night in. For the price, it’s an absolute no-brainer—serious Coonawarra pedigree at a price that feels too good to be true.

"Boysenberry, ripe red cherry and blackberry pie. Pencil shavings, black granite and tar. Sage and bay leaf followed by clove, winter pine and dark chocolate. A taut and compact palate with blue fruit coming through and tobacco and cigar pouch. Nicely integrated and drinking well now."
- Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)
2022 Living Roots Wine Co. Depths of the Earth Red Blend
The 2022 Living Roots Wine Co. Depths of the Earth Red Blend is a bold and innovative take on a classic Aussie style.
Seb and Colleen Hardy blend their South Australian winemaking roots with modern creativity, crafting this red from Shiraz, Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache. Sourcing from passionate growers, they’ve created a wine that’s both hearty and vibrant, balancing bright fruit, spice, and savoury structure with minimal intervention techniques.
Dark berry fruits dominate, with a dusting of clove and cinnamon spice, a hint of candied blood orange, and just enough tannin for texture. Lush, generous, and quietly complex, it’s an unmistakably Australian red with a modern twist.
This is a perfect match for hearty dishes or a casual barbecue, offering richness, approachability, and character in every glass.

Ordering
We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
- The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
- We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
- We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
- It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
- It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.
We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.
At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!
No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.
To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
