Description

Barossa might not be the first place that springs to mind for Prosecco, but Domenic Torzi proves it absolutely should be. Crafted using the Charmat method, this sparkling wine combines fresh, lively energy with a surprising touch of complexity—perfect for easy-drinking celebrations or casual catch-ups.

Sourced from limestone and quartz soils in Angaston, the fruit is hand-picked and naturally fermented to keep things vibrant and clean. A cool 2023 vintage brought just the right balance of ripeness and acidity, with secondary fermentation in tank adding those fine, persistent bubbles.

On the nose, expect lime, white flowers, and a whisper of stone fruit. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with green apple, melon, and citrus leading to a dry, zesty finish. It’s light, bright, and just plain fun.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with a plate of antipasti, this Prosecco nails the brief: bubbly, affordable, and delicious.

"I’m pretty sure you can’t find a better sparkling wine at this price. This is the 11th vintage of this wine, and it’s maybe the best to date. Saline, gently nutty, lemon and lime, green apple, some floral notes. It’s tight and salt-crusted, like the tasty little cracker it is, the bubbles are quite fine but insistent, lime rind and fine chalky texture, real energy here, and it’s so good to drink. A little soda water bite on a finish of excellent length. These pretzels are making me thirsty!"

Barossa’s First Sparkling Prosecco
11th Release
Barossa’s new chic aperitif

Prosecco is the traditional sparkling wine of Veneto in northern Italy. Unlike Champagne, Prosecco is made using the Martinotti/Charmat method, which is tank-fermented as opposed to bottle-fermented. This gives it its aperitif (before food) origin of lively freshness.

Region: Barossa
Sub-Region: Angaston
Vintage: Base Vintage: 2023 / Bottled February 2024

Vineyard Practices:

Family-traditional, responsible farming methods
Compost-based diet, native grasses, and flora as ground cover
Low water input and natural sprays for diseases
Soil: Limestone & Quartz
Trellis System: Single wire
Varietal: Prosecco
Alcohol/Volume: 12.0%
Closure: Cork
Yield per Vine: 5 kg / 4 tons per acre
Altitude: 380 metres

Winemaking:

Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed
Natural cold settling for 14 days, then racked with minimal solids
Natural fermentation at 13°C for 4 weeks, followed by lees aging for an additional 4 weeks to enhance texture, roundness, and complexity
Final base wine transferred to tank for pressurized secondary fermentation to create natural, fine bubbles following Prosecco’s traditional Martinotti/Charmat method
Vintage Notes:
The 2023 vintage was mild in the Barossa, allowing flavors to develop slowly while retaining excellent acidity for freshness. This produced a fruit-forward wine with a silver-green hue and outstanding natural acidity.

Tasting Notes:
Beautifully frothy and bright with excellent persistent bead. Aromatically lively, with notes of stone fruits, lime, and white flowers. The palate showcases orchard fruits, melon, apples, and lime. Finishes dry, fresh, and rounded, with excellent acidity, texture, weight, and persistence.

Torzi Matthews

Some years back, noted Australian wine writer Philip White called Domenic Torzi 'Australia's Best Bargain Winemaker'. Today, that statement still could not be more accurate.

The wines from Dom Torzi and Tracy Matthews are some of the best buys in the Barossa Valley and the country. Alongside their excellent classic range of old vine Barossa Shiraz and Eden Valley Riesling, they make a small amount of fascinating Italian variety wines, inspired by their Italian heritage.

At every price point, these wines hugely and consistently overdeliver and are simply a must-buy for any lover of honest, delicious Barossan wines.

"You’d have to put Dom Torzi’s Torzi Matthews wines into the ‘some of best value/most consistent wines in the country’ list, right near the shiny top. A touch of magic. An eye on drinkability. Considered vineyard sources. Gentle overlay of winemaking. He gets it. Really gets it." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
