The Tolpuddle Pinot Noir hails from one of the most talked about vineyards in Tasmania.
It has some of the country's keenest wine-minds as its custodians, including Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw, winemaking guru Adam Wadewitz and Ray Guerin, one of Australia's most respected viticulturists. With an all-star team and a plot of dirt this good, this is rapidly becoming one of Tasmania's most talked about and iconic Pinot Noirs.
If you're a true Pinot lover then this wine simply demands a place in your cellar.

"Impressively deep, rich purple-red color, unusual in Australian pinot noir. The bouquet is loaded with black cherry, blackberry, and spice aromas, a hint of smoky oak adding charcuterie and five-spice nuances, while the palate is voluptuously full and rich, decadently flavored, with luxurious flesh and fruit, abundant fine/soft tannins, and terrific length. There are some whole-bunch nuances which are beautifully incorporated into the wide array of flavors. A totally convincing and thoroughly impressive Aussie pinot noir to compare with the best in the world."

"Tolpuddle has firmly cemented its position at the pointy end of the Tasmanian pinot noir pyramid, consistently producing knockout wines that have become a benchmark for the region. Nothing changes with the 2022 release... Textural and elegant yet with an undercurrent of latent power and intensity, a tight tannin frame, and a long finish that shows balance and poise. Just wonderful stuff."

The remarkable Bass Phillip Pinot Noirs are the benchmark for Gippsland Pinot Noir.
The phenomenal concentration achieved by Phillip Jones comes from the ground up. Biodynamic farming and extreme attention to detail in the vineyard yielding fruit undeniably of a world class standard.
The Estate Pinot Noir sets the tone for the vintage, coming from the original close-planted estate vineyard. Juicy and sweet-fruited with plenty of spice, and a lick of gentle tannin.
There's great structure and texture here and a long life ahead.

"An elegant style, almost gentle with every element from fruit and acidity to tannins neatly in place. It’s a complete wine. Red cherry accents, rose petals, charred radicchio and a host of spices for good measure. It continues to unfurl beautifully in the glass. As seamless as it gets thanks to superfine tannins and a powder puff of acidity."

"Medium full ruby with a tinge of purple; the aromas are of red fruits, the profile lean and elegant, with bountiful drying tannins, and touches of foresty pinot mystery. The wine is lean and drying on the aftertaste. Nice elegant wine, worth a little cellaring also."

Bindi has become one of the Macedon Ranges' most iconic wineries since it's first plantings took root in 1988.
The Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from the '88 plantings. It's a wine of intensity and savoury structure, the long ripening time in the region giving the fruit an immense depth of flavour and silky texture which has been captured beautifully in the bottle by winemaker Michael Dhillon.
It unfurls beautifully in the glass to reveal a kaleidoscope of Pinot Noir flavours, from dusty, earthen tones, to sweet red fruit. It's one of the region's and the country's finest Pinot Noirs, no doubt about it.
Halliday Wine Companion's Winery of the Year!
"Giant Steps, right now, breathes rare air. It’s been an outstanding winery for a long time, but the combination of energy and expertise – and no doubt plenty more besides – that winemaker Melanie Chester has brought since she arrived at the winery in November 2021 has frankly been breathtaking... In short, it’s a thrilling range to drink from."

Introducing, for the second year in a row, the James Halliday Wine Companion's Pinot Noir of the Year!
The Giant Steps Applejack Pinot Noir comes from the cooler climes of Gladysdale, perched on an east-facing slope in the upper reaches of the region, and is celebrated as one of the benchmark Pinot Noirs of the region. The Applejack Vineyard, planted by the renowned viticulturist Ray Guerin in 1997, benefits from its high elevation and distinctive basalt soil, giving the wine its remarkable complexity and grace.
The 2023 vintage was a challenging one, marked by a cool spring and mild conditions, leading to one of the latest harvests on record. Hand-picked and crafted with precision, this wine incorporates 40% whole bunch fermentation, with the remainder fermented in small oak fermenters and stainless-steel vats. It spends ten months in French oak, 20% of which is new, allowing it to develop a depth of flavour and seamless tannins.
The result is a Pinot Noir that enchants the senses with its aromatic bouquet of wild strawberries, dark cherries, and spices, all interwoven with a hint of floral notes. On the palate, it is densely packed with fruit, yet remains elegantly light and vibrant, showcasing a perfect harmony of sweet fruit and savoury earthiness. Layers of spice and a whisper of woodsmoke add to its allure - it really is the complete Pinot package.
If you love Pinot Noir, do not hesitate over this outstanding release.
98 points, Pinot Noir of the Year & Top 100 Wines of the Year
"2022 was a hard act to follow, but this superb wine gives it a shake. Exotic, aromatic and pure with its bouquet of wild strawberries, dark cherries, quince, spices and flowers. Densley packed, this saturates the palate, but, as always, it's light on its feet at the same time. Seamless tannins round out another benchmark for what's already a benchmark wine."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)
Sangreal is the oldest of the By Farr Pinot Noir vineyards.
The single vineyard wine from this special site the most perfumed and delicate of the By Farr releases each year. The different soil profile and North-South aspect of the plantings bring intense perfume and 'prettiness' to the fruit each year.
A finer-boned Pinot Noir than perhaps the Geelong region is famous for, this wine has been loved by collectors for many years. This year sees an excellent release of this iconic wine. It's a pure, ethereal expression of the vineyard: rosy, perfumed and delicate.
One that will reward the patient for many years to come.

"A pinot of succulence and deliciousness."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)
Recognised as one of the country's leading producers of cool climate wines for the work he's done under the banner of Yabby Lake in Mornington Peninsula, Tom Carson's personal label with his wife Nadège Sune became an overnight success story when they took home James Halliday's Wine of the Year for their 2014 Shiraz Viognier.
Since then, their wines have become as rare as hen's teeth. Their limited single-vineyard offerings are now hunted by collectors and quickly squirrelled away by those on the mailing list.
These are small-batch handcrafted wines that channel a sense of place. Never available for long, the Serrat wines are some of the finest of the modern Yarra Valley.

"A mix of MV6 and Pommard clones; 25% whole bunches, natural-yeast ferment, 12 days on skins. Matured in 500L French oak casks (33% new). A deep-ish bright crimson. Darkly fruited with black raspberries, cherry skins, crushed violets, sandalwood and fennel seeds. You barely notice the whole bunches. The subtly creamy and detailed palate gets better the longer it sits in the glass, and I love how this wine is built to age yet still drinking well in its youth."
