Description

No wine producer in Australia has a longer history and a better affinity with Malbec than Bleasdale in Langhorne Creek. This remarkably successful historic producer simply crafts Australia's finest Malbecs, year-in-year-out.

While they're better known for their 'Second Innings' and 'Generations' Malbec releases, this limited mixed pack introduces you to three small batch, single vineyard Malbecs produced by Bleasdale only in the best seasons - these are in fact the first releases since 2016.

All three wines come with rave reviews from the Halliday Wine Companion. Try these delicious, characterful Malbecs for yourself in this limited three-pack!

  • 2022 Bleasdale Mulliana Vineyard Malbec
  • 2022 Bleasdale Reed Patch Vineyard Malbec
  • 2022 Bleasdale Riparian Vineyard Malbec

2022 Bleasdale Mulliana Vineyard Malbec

From the Producer...

This vineyard is adjacent to the Mullianna wetland, on the Bremer River, about 2 km downstream of the winery. The vineyard was planted in 2006 to Potts’ selection and like many of the red grapes grown at this site, produces rich, balanced wines with moderate alcohol and a seamless palate.

Medium to full bodied, the wine shows great promise as the vines reach maturity, dense powerful and well defined. Decanting one hour prior to drinking is recommended.

"There's a wealth of fruit flavour, a spreading wave of tannin, and a long shoreline for a finish. This is what fine, flavoursome red wine is all about. There's both a freshness and a depth to the dark, berried fruit, a whisper of vanilla cream, peppermint and peppercorn characters, and more besides. It's a quality wine from start to finish."
- Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

2022 Bleasdale Reed Patch Vineyard Malbec

From the Producer...

For many years the reeds growing around Langhorne Creek were sourced for use in woodwind instruments; Oboe, Clarinets, Saxophones etc. The Reed Patch vineyard has many of these reeds persisting in and around the vineyard. The block was planted in 2012 with cuttings supplied from the Care Valley, believed to have originated from Wendouree. The block lies between our Powder Monkey vineyard and a flood bank behind the cellars, a pocket of drier ground, this only receives floodwater in the largest of floods.

This medium-bodied wine is spicy with juicy but firm tannins and terrific length, an excellent example of the variety and an interesting contrast to wines produced from the Potts selection. Of the three wines in the single vineyard series, this is the most aromatic and approachable in its youth, however decanting one hour prior to drinking is recommended.

"Go out and buy these single-vineyard malbec releases from Bleasdale – you can't go wrong. This is arguably the lightest of the three but it's barely the lesser; it has length, structure and charm laid on. Redcurrant, rust, graphite and peppercorn characters sheet through the palate in confident style. Beautiful is the word."
- Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

2022 Bleasdale Riparian Vineyard Malbec

From the Producer...

This vineyard was planted in 1988 on the opposite side of the river from the winery with cuttings from Kevin ‘Gaffer’ Potts. When Frank Potts established Bleasdale in 1850, he drew the boundary extending it to both sides of the Bremer; giving him unique access to and ability to control the flow of the river, a unique Riparian Right. This comes with a duty also not to disrupt the flow of water to users downstream, so he built a weir to block off and control the river. Those were the days…

This is the most full bodied example of the single vineyard wines, not really suited to light lunches. The wine displays the power and concentration so enjoyed by lovers of full bodied Australian wine. Decanting one hour prior to drinking is recommended.

"This is a ridiculously good malbec. It's ripped with redcurrant and bright berried fruits in general, seriously long through the finish, structured, light but impactful. Choc-mint notes frolic throughout, harmoniously, as do purple flower characters. It's pretty, it's serious, it's fresh and it's satisfying. It's a cover drive of a wine; one bounce and over the ropes."

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
