Description

The second release of MMAD's Rosé is a sophisticated field blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chenin Blanc - all grown from this impressive Blewitt Springs vineyard.

Aromas of jasmine, blood orange, and Campari spice lead the way, followed by bright red fruits that leap out of the glass.  The palate is dry, with layers of fruit balanced by vibrant acidity and a fine pithy grip on the finish.

With a refined texture and excellent balance, this is a seriously conceived and seriously good modern rosé.  Another feather in the cap for this ascendant McLaren Vale label.

"lifted herbal notes of cabernet again lead the aromatics, but the colour has been dialled down to a classic coral pink. Grenache lends red-fruited detail and floral lilt. There’s spice, too. And flavour and texture aplenty. That’s also like the 2023, but here the balance, detail and vibrancy are much more finely tuned. Excellent."
- Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

"That extra linger of flavour, that extra smidgen of texture. This is a lovely rosé. Orange oil, cranberry, strawberry and seaspray characters edge into nashi pear, pepper and woodsmoke. It feels effortless as it presents a full flan of flavours. Love. This."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

The 2024 MMAD Vineyard Rosé is a 'field blend' of all four varieties grown on the vineyard; Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc.

Deliciously dry and complex with aromas of jasmine and Campari spice. Delicate fennel frond, cumquat and zesty citrus notes give balance to a savoury finish, with just the right amount of grip.

95 points - "The second release of rosé for MMAD, and from all varieties on the old vineyard: grenache, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and chenin blanc. Like the 2023, the proportions are a mystery, and lifted herbal notes of cabernet again lead the aromatics, but the colour has been dialled down to a classic coral pink. Grenache lends red-fruited detail and floral lilt. There’s spice, too. And flavour and texture aplenty. That’s also like the 2023, but here the balance, detail and vibrancy are much more finely tuned. Excellent." - Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "McLaren Vale rosé made with grenache, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and the mighty chenin blanc.

That extra linger of flavour, that extra smidgen of texture. This is a lovely rosé. Orange oil, cranberry, strawberry and seaspray characters edge into nashi pear, pepper and woodsmoke. It feels effortless as it presents a full flan of flavours. Love. This." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

93 points - "A field blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc. A celebration of all things MMAD. A delicate salmon belly hue in the glass. Here you’ll find persimmon, alpine strawberries and cranberry. Pink lady apple sorbet, pomelo segments and shaved fennel bulb. Fruit is dialled up on the palate, alive with Mariposa plums and blood orange. It’s bone dry but filled with the gusto of a summer fruit punch underpinned by lingering acidity and a fine pith of mandarin on the finish. If you are privy to the charm of a Rosé, this is the Hermès Kelly bag of them all. Drink now with a slice of Russian Honey cake and toast to happiness." - Shanteh Wale (Wine Pilot)

92 points - "Light-mid coral pink to salmon pink colour; earthy, smoky aromas, the palate soft and fruity yet also savoury at the same time, with a tickle of sweetness in the core and a dried-herb/underbrush overtone. A faint suggestion of nuttiness from barrels? It's medium intense and nicely rounded with soft texture and decent length to a dry, appetising finish." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

92 points - "The 2024 Blewitt Springs Rosé is a blend of varieties from the same vineyard site, which was planted in 1939 and includes Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc. On the nose, the wine leads with red cherry and strawberry, sweet paprika and vanilla pod. In the mouth, the wine is textural, complex and wide, with evolving flavors across the tongue. The impact of all varieties is evident here, and it is well played. I like it. Complex, full of flavor and engaging." - Erin Larkin

MMAD

As if Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith MW of Shaw + Smith and Tolpuddle weren't busy enough already. Their newest venture has seen them team up with their chief winemaker Adam Wadewitz and wine industry professional David LeMire MW to create MMAD Vineyard, based in McLaren Vale.

MMAD Vineyard represents a union of expertise and passion in the wine industry. This partnership, rooted in the success of Shaw + Smith winery in the Adelaide Hills, expands to include other projects like Tolpuddle Vineyard in Tasmania.

Located in Blewitt Springs, the vineyard boasts fine Maslin sands and elevated terrain, granting its wines a distinctive aromatic character. Beneath the sand lies a layer of precious ironstone, contributing structure and complexity to the wines. The vineyard's old Grenache, Shiraz, and Chenin Blanc vines, some dating back to 1939, are a testament to its rich viticultural history.

MMAD is one of the 'must-watch' projects in McLaren Vale. With the combination of an exceptional site and the depth of talent behind it, it's sure to produce some of the region's most exciting wines over the coming years.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
