Description

Corymbia’s 2024 Chenin Blanc is a sharp, no-nonsense snapshot of Swan Valley fruit handled with total clarity by Rob and Genevieve Mann. Now seven vintages in, this wine has quietly become one of WA’s best modern expressions of Chenin - bright, saline, and built with purpose.

Grown on the Mann family’s Rocket’s Vineyard - originally planted by Rob and his father Tony “Rocket” Mann more than three decades ago - the fruit is dry-farmed and organically grown, then picked by hand and treated with minimal fuss. Wild fermented, raised in old oak and tank, left on lees through winter - it’s a simple recipe, but the result is anything but. In 2024, a hot season brought intensity but also a surprising level of natural acidity, giving this wine both grip and lift.

It’s salty, layered and lean, with all the hallmarks of Chenin, but a clear WA identity stamped through it. Whether you drink it young or stash it away, it’s got the bones to go the distance.

"Ultra funky nose of matchstick, straw, preserved lemon and lemongrass. Taut, saline and chalky with great texture, poise and complexity."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

93 points - "The 2024 Chenin Blanc leads with an ultra funky nose, laden with matchstick and damp straw, preserved lemon and lemongrass. Interestingly, given the hot and dry conditions of Western Australia at large in 2024, the acids were very high, given perhaps to the slight dehydration of berries and the forced early picking due to heat. In the mouth, the wine is taut and focused, with a high line of saline citrus acid and chalky phenolic texture. Perhaps the lees and older oak contribute hugely to the texture here as well. This organic vineyard is dry-farmed and a joy to walk through. This is a complex wine with tension and poise. I like it a lot. 12.7% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

    Fabulous wine

Fantastic, textural Chenin Blanc that is such great buying. Orchard fruits and citrus mingle with a lovely mouthfeel and chalky, grippy finish. I'd go through 12 of this in no time. I'm trying to limit the perfect scores I give out but this came close for sheer value.

    Surprising

According to wiki “ Chenin blanc is France's answer to the German Riesling”, permitting the winemaker do his own conjuring, producing a surprisingly delightful well balanced result.

    Amazing Chenin Blanc

Another example of why people need to drink more Chenin Blanc

Our seventh release of Rocket’s Vineyard Chenin Blanc! We dedicate our single vineyard Swan Valley wines to Rob’s late father and former Australian Test Cricketer Tony “Rocket” Mann. With a lightening arm, Tony was well known to “rocket” the ball in from the outfield to hit middle stump. Aside from cricket, Tony loved wine. An old currant vineyard caught his eye, which he quickly transformed into a Chenin Blanc oasis, with Rob, 33 years ago.

Our organically farmed grapes were harvested by hand and whole bunch pressed. The juice was fermented with indigenous yeasts in a stainless-steel tank and seasoned French oak barriques. The wine was then left on its yeast lees through winter and then bottled just in time for spring.

The Swan Valley is known for its heat as one of Australia's hottest wine regions. Yes it was very hot in 2024 but this wine is hot to trot! Fresh citrus pith, christmas cracker funk and a distinct briny finish, this will partner those prawns on the barbie and crayfish sandwiches beautifully.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
