Description

The 2023 Lamoresca Rosato has developed a cult following over the years and is anything but your run-of-the-mill pink. A blend of Nero d’Avola, Frappato, and just a touch of Moscato, it’s a layered and textured rosé with real personality.

Filippo and Nancy Rizzo farm their vineyard organically at 550 metres above sea level, crafting wines that are all about honesty and character. This vintage leans into Nero d’Avola, giving the rosato a bit more depth and structure, a nod to the challenges of the season. It’s fermented naturally—no temperature control, no fuss—and aged in cement tanks to let the fruit do all the talking.

Expect vibrant red fruit, a delicate floral lift from the Moscato, and a savoury, mineral edge that keeps it all in balance. Serve it cool (not fridge-cold), and it’s a perfect match for seafood, mezze, or just a lazy afternoon in the sun.

This is rosato with a bit of edge—wild, expressive, and a delicious reminder of why Sicilian wines are so exciting.

93 points - "It’s the colour of Pinot Noir, or similar, which is unusual for rosato, though that’s Lamoresca for you; always a little quirky and so good in that way, and you never quite know what you’re going to get. A bit like XMAS, at least for some. This is a bigger edition of this wine, and full of flavour and perfume. I’m thinking strawberries, peach, watermelon, with a lick of dusty tannin, some orange peel and dried herb, balanced acidity, and a juicy slightly jellied finish of excellent length. Very good." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

    Great drop

The Lamorescoa Rosato 2022 is certainly one of the better rose style wines that I’ve tried this summer. It provides interest and refreshment with a number of friends asking where they could get some!

Notes from the winemaker
“Our Rosato is a mix of traditional grapes that capture the Sicilian style of Rosato. It's refreshing and full of Mediterranean flavors. The blend of Frappato and Nero d'Avola brings in the playfulness and structure, and a bit of Moscato adds a subtle flowery touch. Perfect for relaxed moments, as an aperitif or combined with seafood.”

“Our Rosato 2023 is unique due to challenges with downy mildew during the 2023 harvest, leading to a shortage of Frappato. Consequently, this year's blend comprises 20% Frappato, 75% Nero D'Avola, and 5% Moscato, resulting in a captivating Rosato with a delightful balance of structure and playful red fruit notes.

The higher proportion of Nero D'Avola lends a much deeper color than usual, making for a truly special and intriguing rosé. Even though we find this structure interesting, we will return to the normal ratio of Frappato next year.”

Lamoresca

Lamoresca was built from the ground up by the hands of Filippo and Nancy Rizzo.

The two had a passion for natural wines and growing things organically. After years of spreading the good word of natural wine in retail and hospitality in Belgium, the two moved to Sicily and bought a farm populated with 46 ancient olive trees.

Now their farm, located 50km from the nearest vineyard, produces some of the most compelling, vibrant, and thirst-slaking wines in Sicily.

Their reds are bright, and crunchy and have a real sense of life to them, the white is saline and exotic. These are wines of rare character and great energy. Pure, natural, and fundamentally delicious to the last drop.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
