Description

The Albino Pinot is a truly unique and wonderful creation.

A still table wine made from 80% 'White' Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, the Pinot is pressed gently off its skins and both varieties fermented separately in barrel. No fining, no filtration, this is a seriously funked up Rosé. In the pursuit of "strawberries and cream" in a bottle, Nic's Albino is textural, delightful and thought-provoking.

And most importantly, it is ridiculously more-ish. The whole thing just works, from concept to the eye-catching packaging. Very, very, impressive stuff and totally delicious.

"The indelible Nic Peterkin stamp is all over this thoroughly captivating rose style... Aromas of cranberry and pomegranate with a little cherry and spicy grapefruit. The palate is textured with a fine vibrant acidity." - Ray Jordan

95 points
"Pale salmon-pink colour, the lack of purple showing development thanks to barrel and amphora fermentation and lots of lees stirring. Savoury bouquet suggests smoked charcuterie. A layered, complex and textural wine, with a dry but soft mouth-feel. It's deliberately not fruity/grapy: an outstanding rosé style."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

"Exotic yellow spices lift towards the long finish which is guided by supple acid and a light brush of phenolics that dry the finish well. Time sees it open up. It's best served not too cold."
- Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

The L.A.S. Vino Albino PNO is made from pinot noir & chardonnay grapes grown in forest grove soils over granitic rock. The vineyard sits on the banks of the willyabrup river, only kilometres from the Indian ocean where cool ocean breezes flow up the valley. It’s one of the oldest and last remaining vineyards in Margaret River that contains Pinot Noir. A small one hectare vineyard with high density plantings and two different clones planted in 1980.

Hand picked fruit, whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in barrique. In comparison with other years the wine is lighter in colour and lower in alcohol, yet has body and balance through a secondary ferment, regular lees stirring and the addition of Chardonnay (20%). You can think of it as a rose if you like, but its a lot more than that. Lifted aromas of strawberries, rockmelon and cream.

96 points - "The indelible Nic Peterkin stamp is all over this thoroughly captivating rose style. It’s made from 40-year-old pinot nor and 20% chardonnay from Margaret River. Pressed as whole bunches and then fermented in a combination of French barriques and clay amphora. The chardonnay and pinot were fermented and matured separately until being brought together. Aromas of cranberry and pomegranate with a little cherry and spicy grapefruit. The palate is textured with a fine vibrant acidity." - Ray Jordan

95 points - "The coming together of 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay, aged for nine months in barriques and clay vessels, creates this exceptional rosé. A pale, dusty copper hue with a hint of gold, so it entices immediately. A more subtle iteration with some just-ripe raspberries mixed with lime finger pearls, grapefruit juice, a touch of fresh herbs and a smidge of creaminess across the palate. It is the texture of this wine that makes it stand out, yet it has refreshing and cleansing acidity to close. Love it – consistently one of my top rosés." - Jane Faulker (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "Pale lemon yellow, just a tiny hint of salmon pink in the light. White peach, strawberry, hazelnut and honeysuckle aromas. A full bodied palate, ripe stone-fruits with hints of red berry, and nutty savoury complexities. Exotic yellow spices lift towards the long finish which is guided by supple acid and a light brush of phenolics that dry the finish well. Time sees it open up. It's best served not too cold." - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

    A cracking drop!

Hesitant to leave such a good review as securing these bottles is hard, but what a delicious wine! It’s everything they say it is, and perfect for enjoying in the afternoon sun. Think elegance in a glass, as a delicious take on a rose.

L.A.S. Vino

Nic Peterkin’s blood runs red with Margaret River wine.

The son of Pierro founder, Dr Mike Peterkin and Shelly Cullen, of you guessed it, Cullen wines fame, the force is strong with this one. His wines are out there, challenging the status quo of one of the country’s most respected wine-producing regions. This is the “New Guard” of Margaret River, and the wines are coming out all guns blazing.

Nic is playing with some varieties off the beaten path of classic Margaret River. The Chardonnays and Chenin Blancs are stellar, as is the Cabernet but the likes of Touriga Nacional and Sousao all find a home amongst his eye-catching range.

There's some serious substance to his project, being named as the 2016 Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the Year for his eclectic and tantalising releases and recently named the Dark Horse of the Year at the 2023 Halliday Wine Companion Awards. Nic is one of the most creative and boundary-pushing winemakers in the country, without question. His Margaret River range is truly unlike anything else you will find in Australia.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
