Description

A wonderfully turned out Arneis here from Jen and Col at Adelina.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Adelaide Hills, the cooler climate allowing McBryde and Gardner to craft a more balanced and restrained Arneis than some of the warmer climate versions on the market. It's the tightness and the texture of this wine that sets it apart.

It's beautifully packaged, great with food, and just a great wine to share with wine loving friends who enjoy something a little different.

"Arneis, like its Piedmontese compatriot nebbiolo, can be a right bastard in the vineyard, but if you put the work in it delivers wines with fragrance, texture and detail like this. Winemaker Col McBryde works with the Adelaide Hills vineyard of filmmakers and skilled grape growers Scott Hicks and Kerry Heysen-Hicks to deliver a wine rippling with green apple skin and lemon-drizzled raw fennel, some dried florals and herbs, with a gently nutty edge."

"Arneis by way of Riesling in a way, though it does carry a firm signature of the grape with pear, white flowers, raw almond and smattering of green herb and fennel. It has crunch, a ‘mineral’ character, green pear juiciness, maybe even a drizzle of lime/lemon, flinty texture, and a lively tonic finish of excellent length. Brisk. Invigorating."

93 Points - "Here we have 23 year old vines, from Kuitpo, grown at 350m ASL. It’s a tight and kind of bony expression of Arneis, sort of Arneis by way of Riesling in a way, though it does carry a firm signature of the grape with pear, white flowers, raw almond and smattering of green herb and fennel. It has crunch, a ‘mineral’ character, green pear juiciness, maybe even a drizzle of lime/lemon, flinty texture, and a lively tonic finish of excellent length. Brisk. Delicious and complex

Surprisingly complex given the excellent price point, great BBQ wine or for drinking on its own.

A nice crisp fresh tasty white

I've been exploring white wines I'd not tried before (Arneis, Assyrtiko, Fiano, Zibibbo and others) to break from the usual Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc and Semillon. The Adelina caught my attention via the Winefront review (94 points). Definitely a good review, and a delightful wine to drink, especially on a hot day

    Super interesting and fun

Beautifully approachable white from Kuipto in the Adelaide Hills. A light, delicate, complex wine, very enjoyable!

Adelina

Adelina Wines, established by Jennie Gardner and Col McBryde, is situated in the Springfarm Valley of Clare Valley. With vineyards dating back to 1910, the estate includes Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Malbec, and a unique field blend. Col and Jennie, both PhDs in microbiology, have transformed the vineyard with organic farming methods, achieving certification in 2020.

Their wines are known for delicacy, purity, and terroir expression, featuring old vine Shiraz and Mataro, exceptional Nebbiolo, and vibrant Rieslings. The 80-year-old Grenache vines produce fine-boned, high-toned wines, while the Shiraz showcases bold flavors and impressive tannins.

Sustainability is central to their approach, with minimal water use, manual weeding, and maintaining native scrub. They are also pursuing carbon-neutral certification. Adelina Wines embodies quality and innovation, offering wines that reflect their unique terroir and sustainable practices.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
