Description

The Sol Solice Grenache is a new release from Spinifex and is crafted from a blend of the finest parcels of Grenache from across the entire vintage.

The fruit comes from two vineyards, the Rostein Vineyard in the Eden Valley, and an old, low-yielding Grenache block in the heart of the Barossa Valley where the vines are 60 years old.

Aromas of ripe, juicy red, purple and blue fruits, a sprinkling of spice, fine and structured tannins. Quality from first to last sip, and an absolutely gorgeous wine to sip and savour.

"Just a pure, joyous rendition of the variety. A new wine for the crew from Spinifex and it is glorious drinking."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

- James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

95 Points - "Smells exotic; is exotic. Orange peel and raspberry, cranberry and chalk, floral elements and roasted spice notes. It’s both pretty and substantial, juicy and taut. There’s something ultra pure about this wine; something special. Woodsmoke and earth notes rise as the wine breathes. Apart from many things else, it’s a gorgeous drink." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

95 Points - "Fabulously deep, dark and vibrantly red in the glass. Lifted aromas of anise, blackberry, bramble, pastilles, ironstone and graphite, really complex and evocative. Full, plush and decadent on the palate, there's a core of dark fruit, all mulberry, blackberry and dark, pithy cherry, there is also some graphite and licorice at play. The tannins are textured, drying and layered and provide mouth-feel, length and presence. Delicious!" - Aaron Brasher (The Real Review)

97 points - "Grenache sourced from the high elevation of the Eden Valley and the Barossa Valley floor. An offering of the best grenache of the growing season, according to Peter Schell. Plenty of vibrant, aromatic fruit with juicy red plum, cranberry and mulberry fruits sheathed in gingery spice and hints of cola, earth, dried citrus rind, teacake, orange blossom, raspberry coulis and redcurrant paste. Firm, chalky tannin grip and a super lively, mineral-laden wine finishing juicy – just a pure, joyous rendition of the variety. A new wine for the crew from Spinifex and it is glorious drinking." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

97 Points - "Grenache sources from two vineyards in the High Eden and Barossa Valley. Hand-picked, but fully destemmed with eight days on skins pressed to used French oak for 10 months and bottles without fining or filtration. It’s all about purity and effortless balance." - James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

The ’22 is the inaugural release of “Sol Solice”, a selection of our finest Grenache of the vintage and this year is a blend is sourced from two vineyards. We manage both vineyards with organic principles and is hand pruned, thinned, and harvested.
Ripe fruit aromatics of raspberry, ripe cherry, blueberry and plum – laced with delicate baking spice and dried rose petal high notes – sit over base aromas of dried fig, ink and prune. Full, strong palate – dark sour edged plum, prune and dark cherry fruits on attack are drawn to a firm, fine finish with lingering cherry pit and red plum skin acids and the deep, fleshy fruit is held in check by a strong measure of fine grained, compact tannin.

Spinifex Wines

Spinifex are one of the 'New' Barossa's true pioneer producers. Husband and wife team Peter Schell & Magali Gely have extensive experience in southern France, which proves the inspiration for their unique wines made from predominantly Rhone varietals.

Spinifex was on the front line of the new wave of Barossa producers. Peter's wines brought a new sensibility to the region, they were lower in alcohol, concentrated but elegant, and balanced to perfection. He takes the art of blending into the realm of the virtuoso. There are few wineries who deliver refinement and poise from the Barossa Valley like Spinifex.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
