Description

The Seppeltsfield Tinta Cao Tinta Amarela Touriga is a rich and bright wine inspired by the red blends of Portugal.

The blend of Tinta Cao, Tinta Amarela and Touriga offers a lovely mix of different characters, such as red fruits, savoury herbs, leather notes and fine tannins. The aromas are vibrant and lean towards florals, with lots of violets and rose. Cranberries, cherries, raspberries and blueberries give the palate luscious and fresh flavours, with the purple colour coming from the addition of Touriga.

This is a moreish wine with nice acidity that you can either drink by itself or with some rich meat dishes.

94 Points - "Lots of potpourri and violet perfume, black and purple fruit, plenty of ironstone and chew to it, all the red, black and blue fruits, a little meaty and has a finish of solid length (more to come as it unrolls, I suspect). High interest. Good stuff. Give it plenty of air if going in now." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

93 Points - "Very bright youthful purple colour and the nose offers fresh, perfumed mixed-berry and floral aromas. Raspberry and blueberry are evident with a twist of star anise. The wine is bright, intense and tightly coiled on a medium-bodied palate, with gentle understated tannins and a very focused middle. Lovely wine in a more medium-bodied frame. A nice kick of bitterness in the tannins helps cleanse the aftertaste." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

93 Points - "Medium deep crimson. Fragrant elderberry musky plum aromas with herb, camomile, violet notes. Musky plum, red cherry fruits, fine loose knit graphite tannins and underlying savoury/ roasted walnut notes, Finishes chalky firm with fresh mineral/ juicy acidity. An expressive bistro-style wine." - Andrew Caillard MW (Vintage Journal)

96 Points - "A blend of 40% each tinta cão and tinta amarela (co-fermented), and 20% touriga separately fermented and blended later. A five-day cold soak and a total of 21 days on skins. The vibrant, striking crimson-purple hue introduces a wine that accompanied me up to dinner on the day it was tasted. The bouquet is intensely floral, with rosehip, cherry blossom and eastern spices, the palate gloriously juicy yet with a mouth-watering, savoury spine." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

93 Points - "I love the balance of the expansive blackberry and blackcurrant fruit and the generous chocolaty tannins of this bold yet fresh red that's so appealing. This is all about fruit and there's no perceptible oak. A cuvee of tinta cao, tinta amarella and touriga nacional from a vineyard planted in 1975. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - JamesSuckling.com

Varieties were fermented separately through the historic 1888 Gravity Cellar, with a proportion of whole berries included. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, gravity guides the flow of fruit down through the winery to deliver gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin.

The parcels were matured in seasoned French oak puncheons and foudres. Bench blend trials were then conducted by the Seppeltsfield winemaking team, prior to final assemblage selection and bottling.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
