Description

The Patrick Sullivan Millstream Pinot Noir is a dark and delicious fruit and savoury bomb where the grapes have been able to express themselves fully due to zero use of oak as well as minimal sulphur and other inputs.

The aromas fall within the red berry, dark cherry and savoury realms (meat, herbs and spice), with the palate framed by salivating acidity and flavours of cranberry, cherry and raspberry. The tannin is present but not distracting, and the finish is long and balanced, reflecting the power but also finesse of the wine.

As the Millstream is still very young, cellar it for a few more years to truly enjoy everything this beautiful wine can offer.

His first vinous whiff probably came whilst climbing the Cambrian hills north of central victoria on a farm his family once owned. All grown up and married to the beautiful Megan, they live and make wine on their own farm in the Strezleki ranges, Gippsland, Australia. The wines are inspired by emotion, a moment in time and a sense of place.

94 Points - "An exposed site, typically makes for nervy wines, says Pat Sullivan. Ends up in ceramic vessels to accentuate all the fruit can do from this place. Fragrant perfume of dried flowers, sour cherry, white pepper, game meat, sweaty herbs. Palate is edgy, all cranberry tang, chalky tannins, glass shard acidity, dried herbs and more of the game meat accompanied by some hazelnut savouriness. Mouth-watering fresh. Zesty. It’s on edge but it’s great to find this refreshment here. Give it time." Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

96 Points - "Deep red/purple colour, good depth and hue, the bouquet rich and ripe dark cherry to dark plum aromas, spicy touches, and oak is not noticeable (in fact it saw no oak at all). Full-bodied, ample and richly-textured, with abundant soft, fine tannins and tremendous fruit intensity that persists a very long time in the mouth. Acidity is perfectly harmonious and the tannins are impressively generous yet at the same time supple and fleshy and integrated. A quite extraordinary wine. (Fermented and matured only in ceramic vessels. 10% whole-bunch.)" Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Patrick Sullivan

The wild-haired Patrick Sullivan is a farmer first, a winemaker second.

His pride and joy is his vineyard in the Strzelecki Ranges in the Gippsland G.I. of Victoria. On this plot of land, Pat farms with organic principals alongside Bill Downie, one of the most revolutionary winemakers of his generation.

Bill takes the Pinot Noir from the vineyard, Pat takes the Chardonnay. The Chardonnay wines emerging from his cellar are some of the most exciting in the country. Addicted to volcanic soils and the power and energy that those soils bring to Chardonnay, Pat is amassing a formidable stable of Chardonnays that articulate a small slice of Australia's ancient terroir.

The wines are un-tinkered with, fermented in neutral vessels with little or no sulphur and are made to express their special site and the vagaries of vintage. In Pat's words, "The wines are inspired by emotion, a moment in time and a sense of place."

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
