Kir-Yianni
The Kir-Yianni story begins back in the 1970s when Yiannis Boutaris planted 40 hectares of vines just outside Naoussa in the area that is now recognised as Amyndeon PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).
Surrounded by mountains in Northwestern Greece, Amyndeon is the coolest of the Greek wine regions. Comparatively moderate temperatures, high altitude and good winter rainfall allow for beautifully balanced reds and fresh and vibrant whites.
Today Kir-Yanni is in the hands of Stelios Boutaris and although it is now one of the largest Estates in Greece the attention to detail is still apparent. Look out for excellent renditions of Xinomavro and lovely whites from Assyrtiko.
