Gemtree Wines
The Gemtree property was purchased by Paul and Jill Buttery back in the 1980s, but it wasn't until 14 years after the vineyards were established that their daughter Melissa expressed an interest in working the vines. Paul didn't think Melissa would hack it for long, but she proved him very wrong: becoming a qualified viticulturist and expert in biodynamic and organic farming in the decades that followed.
Her husband, Mike, became the chief winemaker in 1998 after a few vintages spent around France and McLaren Vale. Together, Melissa & Mike delved into biodynamic and organic farming/winemaking, first experimenting with a few select blocks until finally being certified in 2011.
Melissa & Mike Brown farm their land with respect, mindfulness and the utmost care, yielding high quality grapes packed with flavour and transforming them into pure and authentic wines that are a true joy to drink.
