Anakota

Anakota is a distinguished producer of single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon wines, embodying the rugged elegance of Knights Valley, Sonoma County. Established in the late 1990s, Pierre Seillan's mission was to discover a site capable of producing Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Napa Valley and the finesse of Sonoma.

Nestled on the steep slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Helena Dakota and Helena Montana vineyards sit at around 950 feet elevation. These vineyards feature gravelly, nutrient-poor soils, which stress the vines and result in highly concentrated grapes. The vineyards' unique positioning allows them to benefit from cooling westerly winds, which slow the ripening process and enhance the wines' complexity and balance.

Master winemaker Pierre Seillan, with over 50 years of experience, leads Anakota with his innovative "micro-cru" philosophy. This method involves dividing the vineyards into small blocks, each treated as its own unique entity to highlight subtle differences in soil and microclimate. This meticulous approach ensures that each wine reflects the distinctive characteristics of its specific site.

Anakota focuses on crafting two exceptional single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons: Helena Dakota and Helena Montana.
