We tasted these wines with lauded winemaker Peter Fraser recently and he's very happy with this suite. They are powerful, precise and beautifully crafted - a world-class set of wines from a producer at the top of their game.
"The thought crosses my mind every now and again that Yangarra may be the best producer in the country. Or is a contender for that mantle, anyway."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front - Jan 2020)
Unfortunately, these single block wines have historically disappeared very quickly. They are rare, they are in high demand, and they sell out. We are very excited to be to offer you the full set, including magnums, as a pre-release.
The High Sands Grenache and Ironheart Shiraz come from the powerful, low-yielding 2019 harvest. These statuesque wines should take pride of place in your cellar. They are dense, powerful and set to unfurl beautifully for decades to come. With 100 points from Nick Stock and a nod into James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of Australia 2020, this is a highly touted release of High Sands, one of Australia's greatest examples of the variety. Stocks are limited.
The hugely popular King's Wood Shiraz is in peak form, showing beautiful blueberry/cherry pie fruit flavours and sweet, moreish cocoa-powder tannins. It offers tremendous drinking now and the promise of so much more in time.
The Ovitelli Grenache (the fastest to sell out in recent releases) looks its usual vivid, energetic self. The floral perfume and vibrancy are there in spades so if you've loved it in the past, don't hesitate. Not to be outdone, the Grenache from the Hickinbotham Vineyard in Clarendon shows a more muscular side of Grenache without ever veering into blockbuster territory. Dubbed "McLaren Vale Burgundy" by The Wine Front's Gary Walsh, this is a scintillating expression. These are two gorgeous examples of premium McLaren Vale terroir put up in lights and shining brightly.
"Peter Fraser has taken Yangarra Estate to another level altogether with his innovative winemaking and desire to explore all the possibilities of the Rhône Valley red and white styles."
- James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)
If that wasn't enough, the new Roux Beaute Roussanne is on deck alongside the first release of their Ovitelli Blanc - a glorious egg-fermented blend of white Rhone varieties that has been met with rave reviews and called a wine "destined for legendary status" by Ned Goodwin MW. And finally, the incredible value 95 point Estate Shiraz which has been a hero for value hunters from the Vale for years.
Unfortunately, the volumes made of this fantastic set of wines are smaller than ever. Our allocation is small and we anticipate it will fly.
Yangarra are in top form at the moment. One of the country's great producers in full flight. The uncompromising quality through their entire range, from top to bottom, puts them clearly in the uppermost echelon of the country's finest labels.
Grab yourself some of these modern classics, in standard bottles and in rare magnum form while stocks last.
