Description

The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc from Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a true gateway into the extraordinary world of this master winemaker. Crafted from a selection of high-quality parcels in some of Burgundy’s most revered villages—Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin—this wine benefits from the same meticulous care and attention as his more prestigious appellations. Fermentation and ageing occur in 350-litre barrels, ensuring that the wine has a beautiful balance of richness and precision, despite its status as a "regional" wine.

In the glass, the wine is a pale, shimmering gold, offering aromas of fresh-cut lemon, grapefruit, and a subtle floral note that adds an intriguing complexity. The nose is restrained but elegant, slowly revealing layers of ripe orchard fruit, wet stones, and a whisper of hazelnut. On the palate, this wine is pure energy. It’s lean and racy, with a vibrant citrus backbone—think lemon zest and grapefruit peel—complemented by a fine streak of minerality that keeps it fresh and lively.

Despite its bright acidity and sleek profile, there’s also a surprising richness to the wine, thanks to the texture imparted by the lees ageing. It finishes long, with notes of fresh lemon curd, a touch of white peach, and a slight reductive quality that adds complexity. This is a wine that punches well above its weight, showcasing the kind of precision, purity, and finesse that are hallmarks of the PYCM style. Ideal for those looking to explore Burgundy at a more accessible level, the 2022 Bourgogne Blanc is perfect for enjoying now but will develop even more complexity with a few years in the cellar. Drink from 2025 to 2027.

From vines located in Meursault (40%), Puligny (15%), Chassagne (15%) and also Saint Aubin (30%).

‘Made exactly like all the other wines, just a shorter elevage. Not yet labelled Côte d’Or ‘It can be but the clients have never asked for it. Below Chassagne and below Puligny. Fresh clear colour, not reductive but nor is there much nose showing either. Lean and racy, grapefruit and fresh lemon at the finish, quite persistent, and now a little of the reductive aromatics can be seen. Pure and persistent. Drink from 2025-2027.’ (87-88) Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, October 2023.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, often known simply as PYCM, is the husband and wife team of Pierre-Yves Colin and Caroline Morey - a meeting of families steeped in Burgundian tradition.

Pierre-Yves is the eldest son of the Marc Colin, where he worked until 2005 - he established his own negociant business and domaine from family vineyards he inherited. His star has been rising ever since, making electric wines from parcels across Saint Aubin, Puligny, Meursault, Corton and his home commune of Chassagne.

The wines are pure and driven, with no batonnage (lees-stirring), only natural yeasts, and no fining or filtering. The corks are extra-long and bottles wax-sealed to avoid any possibility of premature oxidation. He builds white wines for the long haul.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
