We've been huge fans of Charlie Seppelt and Skye Salter's work ever since their very first vintage in 2018. With Skye leaving her day job to focus solely on Paralian, the future trajectory of this small family outfit seems destined for great things. We are thrilled to be able to offer you a small allocation of their stunning 2022s this week.
Stocks are small, the reviews are large - we won't have them for long.
The 2022 vintage in South Australia was a stunner and has gifted them four spotless McLaren Vale reds and a gorgeous Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills. These are impressive wines, modern and stylish, and considering their quality and extremely limited production (just 100-200 dozen per cuvee), they offer excellent relative value for money in the context of the best wines in the region.
Their 2022 Marmont Vineyard Grenache (96 points - The Wine Front) is a phenomenal wine - up there with the best Grenache we've tasted from the region this year and one of the top-scoring Grenache wines on The Wine Front in 2023. Sleek, spicy, refined and powerful, this is what contemporary Grenache from McLaren Vale is all about.
The single new addition to the range this year is a single vineyard Cabernet (94 points - The Wine Front) from the same site that supplies their lovely, spicy Shiraz. Charlie is a dyed-in-the-wool Cabernet lover and was very excited to get his hands on this small parcel of fruit. It's elegant, understated and very well turned out.
The other standout from this release is the brilliant Adelaide Hills Chardonnay (95 points - The Wine Front). It's a class act, tightly wound, impressively powerful, an exceptional example of cool-climate Chardonnay that we polished off in record time.
The wines are en-route from Skye & Charlie as we send this but wanted to give you first access to these wines after the reviews dropped just a couple of days ago. We will ship the wines the week beginning the 8th of May.
