John Griffiths & Jane Micallef established Faber Vineyard in 1997, after John spent 10 years gaining all the knowledge he could on how to make fantastic warm climate wines. They chose to plant and embrace "traditional" varieties that thrive in the Swan Valley, like Verdelho and Shiraz, turning them into rich and flavourful wines with supreme drinkability and age-worthiness.
This unique site in the Swan Valley has gained a loyal cult following over its 25+ year history, though its wines are rarely available outside their home state of W.A.
Their range has received consistently excellent reviews over the years, being a standard-bearer for the quality and unique stylings of the Swan Valley. Considering that their wines start from just $25 per bottle, they all massively overdeliver in terms of quality and enjoyment for price.
Their Verdelho is a fascinating wine, long considered one of the best in the country. Lauded as a benchmark example of the variety, it's a wine with an incomparable track record for age-ability. Just see the recent review of the 2009 vintage Verdelho from The Wine Front's Gary Walsh:
