Bodega Chacra: 2022 International Producer of the Year

In the Rio Negro Valley of northern Patagonia lies Piero Incisa della Rocchetta's operation, Bodega Chacra, founded back in 2003.

Chacra is a magical producer that gave us some of the most excellent examples of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that we tasted from any corner of the world in 2022, and it is absolutely no surprise to us that these wines have soared to international notoriety.

His releases last year were the recipients of some huge reviews from James Suckling and Gary Walsh of The Wine Front, and as little as a few dozen of each of these top cuvées made it to Australia.

"We preserve ungrafted old vines, invest in apiculture, and organically and biodynamically farm. We see Chacra wines as a consequence of nature and a reflection of our true respect for the ecosystem."

- Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, owner/winemaker

The wines are incredibly special - the Chardonnay crafted with tension and complexity, the Pinots ethereal and fresh, and each one an absolute treat for the lucky drinker. These are world-class, cool-climate wines with a ravenous following, and more than deserving of being awarded our International Producer of the Year.

We still have a (very) small amount left of these truly incredible wines, including the 2021 Manique Chardonnay ($112) crafted in collaboration with a Burgundian legend, so we recommend diving in to the pride of Patagonia while they're still available below.
