We are very pleased to offer you today the latest release of Estate grown wines from Col McBryde and Jen Gardner at Adelina in the Clare Valley.
A couple of weeks ago we caught up with the erudite and self-deprecating McBryde (check out our chat with Col on YouTube here) to taste his 2022s and the lineup reminded us of the many reasons why Adelina is one of our favourite boutique Australian producers.
The 2022 estate grown reds, the Shiraz, Grenache and recently renamed Introspect Field Blend are brilliant. The move towards more freshness and focus in these wines has been obvious over the last few years and that theme continues in this release. The temperate 2022 harvest bringing great power and seductive fruit out of the gnarled Clare Valley vines.
The Estate Shiraz from the historic block planted in 1915 is a stunning wine that showcases some of the finest wine-growing terroir in Australia with great sensitivity. It's deep and concentrated but light on its feet. Something for the cellar that will likely outlive us, yet looks beautiful in the glass tomorrow night, if you like.
The Grenache and fascinating Introspective Field Blend both show great energy and a beautifully softer side of the Clare that we found incredibly charming. These reds are all made in very small volumes and given the demand for Adelina's best wines over recent years we expect them to not stick around for long.
These wines are definitely in the more premium end of town at $70 a bottle, and while they deliver very well for those prices, you'll find plenty of love in this range under $35 where the McLaren Vale Shiraz, gorgeous Clare Valley Rieslings and Arneis all give you a brilliant bang-for-your-buck look into the Adelina world.
Col was just named as one of the finalists for the Halliday Winemaker of the Year for this year and looking at this exquisite suite of wines, it's not hard to see why. Find the full Adelina range below while stocks last.
