2022 Papagiannakos Old Vines Savatiano

From a vineyard in Attica, surrounded by sea, are the 50 year old Savatiano vines of Papagiannakos.

The fruit from these old vines craft a delicate, herbaceous wine with stunning minerality from the limestone soils.

This is the perfect refreshing white for any setting. Enjoy it while kicking back in a lounge chair on the beach, soaking up the sun, maybe clad in some white linen - or, if you can't do that, just enjoy it in good company with an antipasto platter or seafood.

2022 Douloufakis Dafnios Vidiano

If you're an adventurous soul, you'll delight in this new find from a place of real antiquity. Vidiano is a rare white grape from the island of Crete, offering up a stylish, textural white with depth.

Like other white grapes revived from near extinction (think Arneis, Viognier), Vidiano is a tricky variety that doesn't produce big crops. But dedicated organic growers like Douloufakis sensitively ferment and age in stainless steel to maintain bright fruit and freshness.

Fleshy with yellow pear, honeysuckle florals and lovely lemon zestiness, if you're into comparisons, it's a little like Pinot Gris with a touch more flair.

You'll love this distinctive white with the bold spice and smoke of barbecued seafood.

2022 Kir Yianni Assyrtiko Amyndeon PGI

A fine example of Greece's indigenous variety Assyrtiko (pron. ass-sir-teeko) from the high country of Northwestern Greece.

This bottling has a lovely balance of texture and acidity and great concentration, particularly when you consider the youth of the vines. It is likely a result of the poor, sandy soils keeping yields down and the warm days and cold nights that a soaring 700m altitude affords.

In the winery all purity and freshness has been retained with a little gentle lees work adding texture. Citrus and blossom with a hint of roundness making it all the more appealing. Will delight anyone with a taste for fresh dry whites looking for something new to try.

2022 Zafeirakis Limniona Rose

Christos Zafeirakis is a champion of the variety Limniona. Limniona is a rare indigenous Greek red variety that is most often found in Thessaly but, thanks to great work by Christos, has increasing prominence across Greece. It’s a red grape suited to both red and rose.

All the Zafeirakis vineyards are certified organic and the fruit quality is excellent. Christos prides himself on chasing freshness and subtlety over richness and power, and we certainly see that here, deliciously fresh with pretty berries and cranberry crunch. It’s a wine that will hit the spot but also offer a new shade of pink to your Rose line up. Give it a whirl.

2021 Gaia Monograph Agiorgitiko

From one of the pioneers of the modern Greek wine movement, this Agiorgitiko comes from the calcareous soils in the hills of Nemea, from an altitude of 600m. With no oak used in the vinification, this is a bright fruit forward expression of this indigenous Greek variety.

The grapes produced in this vineyard have exceptional concentration, and the resultant wine is quite fruit driven with a mid-weight mouthfeel. Super ripe and bright red fruit flavours are at the core of this juicy, juicy wine.

So easy going, soft tannins, nice acidity, and a wine that wouldn’t shy away from a bit of a chill on a nice sunny day.

2021 Thymiopoulos Young Vines Xinomavro

Xinomavro is the main quality red of northern Greece, where the mountains are high and vineyards cool. Though it is a thick-skinned grape, it can show lots of lovely bounce and energy, and that is the case for this young vines release from the biodynamically-inclined Apostolos Thymiopoulos.

There's no oak involved here, it would just be unwanted participant in this orgy of black and red fruits, alpine herbs and and some light, gravelly tannins.

This is a sensual medium-weight Greek red with great drinkability, and might be a gateway to bigger Xinomavros to come.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
