Description

This release sees Pat heading into the Upper Yarra to work with the storied Lusatia Park vineyard. Planted in 1985 on an "almost perfect" north-facing slope, the site is famous for its red basalt soils which Pat credits for the extraordinary length in the wine.

While it’s technically Yarra Valley fruit, the Sullivan thumbrint is there in spades.

The 2025 is an elegant, high-toned expression that focuses on precision over raw weight. The nose is incredibly pretty, showing white orchard blossom and yellow peach with a subtle thread of spice and brioche.

It’s a generous wine, but that Yarra altitude ensures the orchard fruit is always balanced by bright, snapping acidity. The finish is where the basalt soil really speaks, revealing a long, poised, and mineral-flecked elegance. It’s a fascinating "Gippsland lens" on Yarra fruit, and given the tiny production, it’s one for the collectors.

"This is a beautiful, mouthwatering, textural Chardonnay, as all the Patrick Sullivan Chardonnays are."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

96 points - "The 2025 Woori Yallock Chardonnay hails from the superb Lusatia Park vineyard, and the wine exhibits all the nutty freshness and lacy acidity that we have come to expect from this (elevated) corner of the Yarra Valley. There are notes of cashews, green apple, white peach, freshly pressed linen and white flowers. This is a beautiful, mouthwatering, textural Chardonnay, as all the Patrick Sullivan Chardonnays are. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

According to Patrick Sullivan Wines: Located at Woori Yallock in the upper reaches of the Yarra Valley, the Lusatia Park vineyard sits on an excellent north-facing slope at an almost perfect altitude for this part of Victoria. The vineyard was planted in 1985 and is situated on the much-desired red basalt soils that contribute to the extraordinary length the wines provide. The fruit was hand-harvested and transferred to the winery, then whole-cluster crushed into the press and drained off into tank for settling. Primary fermentation took place in barrique (30% new) over three weeks, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Lees stirring occurred weekly until the completion of malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged in barrique for 10 months." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

94 points - "While there’s no shortage of pristine acidity encasing this, it’s a seemingly richer, riper style in terms of flavour, with white peach, clotted cream with buttered toast, oak spices and preserved limes. A wine of many layers and needs more time to reveal them." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

93 points - "Medium yellow colour; buttery croissant and gently toasty aromas, some dried fruit and subtle smoky traces also, the palate incisive and tense with a cut of acidity and phenolics that leaves a firm grip that adds length and a clean crisp finish. A leaner, racier wine than the Gippsland chardonnays and different in shape, needing more time." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

91 points - "Yellow fruit, oatmeal, spicy oak, aniseed, something a little salty. It has peachy flavour, quite creamy, spicy biscuit oak, some grapefruit flavour and acidity, a powdery feel to texture, puling saline on a finish of solid length. It sits a bit flat in the mouth, but it’s an interesting wine of character all the same." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Elegant and delicious

We drank this elegant and delicious Chardonnay at Saint Peter. I bought two more bottles for home while I was at the table.

Patrick Sullivan

The wild-haired Patrick Sullivan is a farmer first, a winemaker second.

His pride and joy is his vineyard in the Strzelecki Ranges in the Gippsland G.I. of Victoria. On this plot of land, Pat farms with organic principals alongside Bill Downie, one of the most revolutionary winemakers of his generation.

Bill takes the Pinot Noir from the vineyard, Pat takes the Chardonnay. The Chardonnay wines emerging from his cellar are some of the most exciting in the country. Addicted to volcanic soils and the power and energy that those soils bring to Chardonnay, Pat is amassing a formidable stable of Chardonnays that articulate a small slice of Australia's ancient terroir.

The wines are un-tinkered with, fermented in neutral vessels with little or no sulphur and are made to express their special site and the vagaries of vintage. In Pat's words, "The wines are inspired by emotion, a moment in time and a sense of place."

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
