Nothing heats up a debate amongst wine folk like the topic of natural wine. It’s fair to say there’s a decent amount of obfuscation on the subject. What is natural wine? Who gets to say what is and what isn’t natural? What’s an ‘Orange Wine’? How can a wine not be vegan friendly? If it’s organic, does that make it natural?

It all started with a vineyard... A tiny old vineyard smack-bang amongst some of the most sort after grape-growing real estate in the Clare Valley. Across the road from the famed Wendouree and Aberfeldy vineyards, these gnarly 100+-year-old plantings of Shiraz, Grenache and Pedro Ximenez were calling to be loved.

Australian wine's history has been modelled on what works in France, and these French grape varieties have helped put our country on our global wine stage. But what if we started all again?
