Description

This is the first time Pat has bottled Camp Hill as a standalone single-vineyard cuvée, and it’s a site that deserves the spotlight.

Located at the highest point between the Strzelecki and Great Dividing Ranges, this tiny half-hectare plot sits at 250m on rocky, red volcanic soil. The exposed, north-facing position gets plenty of air circulation, which Pat notes helps manage disease and naturally concentrates the fruit character.

This is a tightly coiled, mineral-charged Chardonnay. There’s a core of ripe nectarine and white peach on the nose, complemented by a subtle saline note through the spine. Because those roots have to penetrate such rocky ground, there’s a real mineral edge that adds definition right through the mid-palate.

It’s a textured, energetic Chardonnay with a long and precise finish. We reckon this is a brilliant debut for the site, offering a wine further on the nervy, volcanic end of Pat's Chardonnay spectrum that perfectly complements the rest of the range.

96 points
"There is a quiet intensity, struggling to get out of its shell. It has serious concentration and a sense of more to come. This really blossomed with time exposed to air, revealing itself as a most complete and seamless chardonnay. It deserves a good aeration if drinking now."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

96 points - "The 2025 Camp Hill Chardonnay leads with a nose quite distinct from the other Chardonnay cuvées tasted here today. Where they lead with notes of nuts, white peach and even herbal notes, this Camp Hill Chardonnay is soft, floral, perfumed, pretty and nutty. In the mouth, this all shows to be true, with bright acidity that tracks a linear path across the palate and soft chalky length through the long finish. This is a graceful wine, sleek and composed. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

According to Patrick Sullivan Wines: Camp Hill is a single-site vineyard planted in 1998 at 250 meters in elevation on rocky red volcanic soils, considered the highest point between the Strzelecki and Great Dividing Ranges. The vineyard faces north with almost 360-degree views of the Baw Baw Shire (eastern Victoria, south of the Yarra Ranges National Park, and southwest of the Alpine National Park), with total plantings to Chardonnay being approximately half a hectare. The elevated position and volcanic soils encourage deep root penetration, while good air circulation from the exposed site contributes to natural disease pressure management and the concentrated fruit character that defines wines from this distinctive vineyard. The fruit was hand-harvested into 15-kilogram baskets and transferred to the winery, then whole-cluster crushed into the press and drained off into tank for settling. Primary fermentation took place in barrique (30% new) over three weeks, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Lees stirring occurred weekly until the completion of malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged in barrique for 10 months." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

96 points - "Medium-full yellow; rather quiet and reserved on the nose at first, likewise in the mouth, where it is firm and tense with a little astringency from acidity and tannin, almost a hardness; the overall feel is that it is locked up and needs more time to emerge fully. There is a quiet intensity, struggling to get out of its shell. It has serious concentration and a sense of more to come. This really blossomed with time exposed to air, revealing itself as a most complete and seamless chardonnay. It deserves a good aeration if drinking now." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Patrick Sullivan

The wild-haired Patrick Sullivan is a farmer first, a winemaker second.

His pride and joy is his vineyard in the Strzelecki Ranges in the Gippsland G.I. of Victoria. On this plot of land, Pat farms with organic principals alongside Bill Downie, one of the most revolutionary winemakers of his generation.

Bill takes the Pinot Noir from the vineyard, Pat takes the Chardonnay. The Chardonnay wines emerging from his cellar are some of the most exciting in the country. Addicted to volcanic soils and the power and energy that those soils bring to Chardonnay, Pat is amassing a formidable stable of Chardonnays that articulate a small slice of Australia's ancient terroir.

The wines are un-tinkered with, fermented in neutral vessels with little or no sulphur and are made to express their special site and the vagaries of vintage. In Pat's words, "The wines are inspired by emotion, a moment in time and a sense of place."

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
